If you can see the other computer inside your network when you use your Linux distribution try this:
open up your console and type this:
sudo vi /etc/samba/smb.conf
vi is a program that allows you to modify text files.
in this program in order to type you need to press "Insert" or "Ins" depending on your keyboard..
Then under ## Global ## settings write the following:
netbios name =
name resolve order = bcast host
then press ZZ (yes capitals) in order to save and close and after that, restart your PC

Now you should probably see the other Computers on the network :)
