First of all everyone will ask "Is my computer compatible for this version of Windows?".
As Microsoft said Windows8 are designed for similiar hardware that uses Windows Vista or Windows 7
Minimum Hardware Requirements:
Architecture:
For x86 (most common computers)
- CPU: 1Ghz
- RAM: 2GB
- Graphics: DX9 compatible VGA
- 20GB hard disk
For IA-32
- CPU: 1GHz
- RAM: 2GB
- Graphics: DX9 compatible VGA
- 16GB hard disk
I guess all Computers built after 2006 can fully utilize Windows8 version, from what i saw is that Windows8 dev version consumes less ram than Windows7 dev version required on a normal operation.
Some new features:
Windows Store, it's similiar to Apple App Store, Mac users will know it for sure.
USB 3.0 built-in support, better battery life.
Windows2Go, it will be a bootable windows8 version in a USB flash containing all user data, so yes you can take Windows8 with you :)
Picture password, Windows8 user can draw a sketch over a picture to login, i'd preffer a classic password.
Protogon file system support, a new file system will be supported in Windows8, users can format their disks selecting Protogon instead of NTFS.
Boot Security, UEFI, this feature protects from bootloader attacks (viruses etc), Windows users are going to find it nice, but for dual boots this feature it will be a little pain. As they said it can lock out linux distros... but im sure we're gonna find a way to dual boot
I guess Windows8 is going to be a nice operating system working on almost every computer. It looks promising and faster than Windows7 especially during boot because their shut down is changed with something similiar to hibernation so it will save your time. Also they made it portable which is actually extremely good, to have all your OS in a small USB flash. For now we have to wait or... You can download Windows8 Dev preview fromhere. I hope you found this article usefull :) Have fun and enjoy.
